Happy Spring! Hopefully, we have seen the last of the Nor’Easters and are able to settle back into our school routines. Here’s what we’ve been working on in Guidance Lessons this month:
Kindergarten The theme of the month in Kindergarten has been cooperation. The Kindergarteners have been working hard to develop their cooperation skills! We even worked together to make a giant spider web out of a ball of yarn – ask your child about it!
1st Grade The themes of the month in 1st grade have been cooperation and helping others. Thanks to everyone for completing our annual Homeside Activity! We connected all the Helping Chains together and have them on display in each classroom. It’s been great to hear about all the ways that 1st graders help both at school and at home.
2nd Grade The theme of the month in 2nd grade has been friendship. After reading Making Friends is an Art by Julia Cook, 2nd graders worked together to complete a FRIENDS Puzzle Banner. Groups of students came up with characteristics of a good friend, wrote them on puzzle pieces, and put the puzzle pieces together to spell the word friends. The Puzzle Banners are on display in each classroom.
3rd and 4th Grade This month, 3rd and 4th graders have worked diligently to complete their entries for the MARC at Bridgewater State University’s annual Poster Contest. This year’s 3rd grade question was: What does kindness mean to you? The 4th grade question was: How do you make yourself feel better when someone isn’t being nice to you? The posters are on their way to Bridgewater State University for judging. I will be posting pictures of the completed posters on my website very soon! Hopefully, we will hear of some award winners after April vacation.
